The IHS Health Professions Scholarship provides financial aid to qualified American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate- and graduate-level students. Recipients must be members of federally recognized Tribes and enrolled in an eligible health profession degree program. In exchange for financial aid, scholarship recipients agree to fulfill a service commitment in full-time clinical practice upon completion of their academic or post-graduate clinical training. Applicants must be capable of completing a health profession degree program; committed to serving Indian people as a health professional in their chosen specialty; and be willing to sign an Indian Health Service Scholarship Program Contract (IHS-818) for that academic year agreeing to a minimum two-year service commitment to practice at an Indian health facility upon completion of your academic and/or post-graduate training. A Health Professions Scholarship recipient will receive financial support for up to four years of academic work. In addition to submitting the online application form, students must submit their official transcripts and employer or faculty evaluations. Selected applicants in each degree program will be reviewed for a potential award offer. Selected applicants will be notified to submit the following additional documents to complete the selection process within 30 days upon notification: Letter of Acceptance, Documentation of American Indian Tribal or Alaska Native Village Membership, Curriculum for Major or Degree Plan of Study, Declaration of Federal Employment-OMB Form 3206-0162, and Addendum of 306 Form-OMB Form 0917-0028.
